The long-awaited movie starring Dwayne The Rock Johnson as the anti hero is finally set to hit screens on October 21st in the USA. Director James Collet-Serra has promised that this will be a totally new and unique superhero movie, unlike anything we’ve ever seen before. The anticipation for this film is huge, and it is expected to be a massive box office hit.
Warner Bros. Pictures, as the official distribution partner has set the release date for Black Adam, which will be made available to stream on HBO Max 45 days later. It was originally planned to premiere on December 22, 2021 due to the COVID-19 epidemic; however, it was changed.
The movie is set to take place in ancient Egypt about a 5,000-year-old character with the cutting-edge technology of the future. The Black Adam movie will explore the DCEU’s mythology and will also introduce the Justice Society of America to cinema audiences for the first time. The DCEU’s shift away from director Zack Snyder’s original vision for the series will continue. Black Adam is scheduled to premiere in 2022, along with The Flash, Aquaman, and the Lost Kingdom, as well as Batgirl, which will debut exclusively on HBO Max.
We will be seeing Johnson’s character as Black Adam which is going to be the world’s first superhero. Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, Quintessa Swindell, and Pierce Brosnan (nostalgic) all star as Hawkman, Atom Smasher, Cyclone, and Doctor Fate in Black Adam. Adrianna is played by Sarah Shahi, who will be Adam’s wife in the movie.
It has been described as “a dark and gritty” story, with Black Adam being an “anti-hero.” The latest issue of Total Film includes a feature on Jordan Johnson, who appeared on the front cover. He also tweeted the cover from his account with the message, “Inside these pages, I share my 10-year journey of bringing the Khandaq disruptor to the big screen.“
The word Disruptor was also used by the director of the film, James Collet when he described the film in his interview. These are his exact words:
“Black Adam is a disruptor in the DC Comics world, and it has to be a disruptor in the way that we make a superhero movie. I like to be challenged, and I wanted to create new technology, so we developed the way that [Adam] moves, the way that he flies, his costume. And then it trickled down to every other character and the movie itself.”
Moreover, the Black Adam’ producer also revealed that the early director’s cut Is complete and It’s not your average first cut. In addition, the director in his interview said that, “There was always the goal – to be new and unique in the storytelling and in every aspect of it.”
So one thing is clear, The Rock and director Collet-Serra are going to change the superhero movie game with Black Adam. It’s made with the out of the box thinking that the fans have been clamoring for. It’s going to be a breath of fresh air in a genre that has become stale.
The tensions are rising between Marvel and DC fans as the release date of Black Adam draws nearer. The popularity for this film has grown to epic proportions, and it is expected to be a huge box office success and some say it will rule for quite some time.
Marvel movies are also scheduled to release later this year but the fans are not as excited because most of them feel that they have seen it all before. Nonetheless, Marvel is not far behind and is working on some new and interesting projects that might just be able to give Black Adam a run for its money. DC is taking a big risk with Black Adam, but it looks like it is going to pay off in a big way. We will see on 21st October if Black Adam lives up to the hype.
